BioA fictional character from the online Dragonsfire game based in Anne McCaffery's Pern.
Lord Sterling is Lord Holder of Ista Hold.
His appearance is a network of vivid contrast and accord, working together into a strange harmonic symphony of rugged masculinity. Snow capped peaks of sterling white hair is kept short in an attempt to tame feral tendencies. The artic expanse is only highlighted by a burnished bronze face that is long and angular, and a frosted goatee and a mustache accentuate his strongly defined chin. Sterling's unwavering eyes are piercing glacial blue in one light, and intense icy silver in another. An imperialistic posture provides an illusion of loftiness upon a man of average stature. He carries his age well, with broad cross-guard straight shoulders, and a physique carefully honed to greatswords rigidity and strength. The persistent Istan sun brings apt color where oddities of birth allow for none; warm sun bakes and toughens his hide, while soft wintry silver-whites clash for the highest contrariety.
History:
Sterling is a true blue blooded Istan, born and mostly raised right here at Xenophon’s Hold. He is a close relative to the Lord Holder, so when the old man retired, he had a healthy spot to vie for the position from. Very centered and on point, he’s a conniver, and had been jockeying for this very title since birth. That is why he asked the Lord Holder if he could be fostered at Keroon Hold – both for the experience that will look good on his resume, but also because he had heard vivid stories of Lord Miket’s adeptness with manipulation. He learned well. At the age of 32 he found just how affective he had become. The Lord Holder Xenophon stepped down, and when the conclave convened nobody was surprised by the result – Sterling came striding out with a brand new Lord Holder’s knot. Confidence has never been a problem.
6 turns later and Ista Hold has been prosperous. Xenophon did very well, but Sterling has aims to widen Ista’s Hold on Pern, and the various aspects of it that he considers personally, and professionally important. He’s been quietly working, making himself successful while remaining anonymous – more background noise. This was to cement his grasp on the Hold. Now all bets are off!
